The 100 Women Who Care model started with a simple idea: what if giving could be easy, social, and genuinely impactful? Here’s how it works.
The commitment
You’ll become a member, donate the full amount for the year, come out to three events per year, and get a tax receipt for your contribution. That’s it. No ongoing fundraising, no extra asks.
The gathering
Each event is held at a local venue and has two parts. There’s an optional one-hour social before the event, where you’ll grab a drink and/or bite and get ready to hear from some incredible organizations. The second hour is where you’ll hear the three non-profits presentations, as well as from the previous meeting’s fund recipient and learn what they’ve been able to do with their funds.
The presentations
Before each event, the planning committee draws from the list of nominated local charities to present (anyone can nominate charities). Each charity gets five minutes to present. They will share who they are, what they do, and what this donation would mean for their work.
The vote
After hearing from the three charities, you cast your vote for the charity that you’d like to put your money behind. Voting will be done on your phones that very evening. For those who can’t attend in person, you can vote from home. Keep in mind that seeing people present in person can strongly impact your choice so we encourage everyone to attend in person, whenever possible.
The cheque
The charity with the most votes receives 100% of the funds collected that evening. If we have 100 members, that’s $10,000. Every dollar goes directly to the cause.

Membership
Any woman who lives, works, or has a connection to Vancouver and is committed to donating $300 per year. We welcome women of all ages and backgrounds.

You can join anytime! If you join mid-cycle, your annual donation amount is prorated for the year. You’ll donate $100 for each remaining event(s) that year.
No, there is no membership fee.
No problem. If you can’t make it to an event, we will send you info about the three organizations in advance, and you can cast your vote from home (You’d have to submit your vote by 7 pm on the night of the event).
Events are for members only — it keeps the circle intentional and the energy focused. If you have a friend who’d love to be part of it, encourage them to join! The more the merrier (and the bigger the cheque).
It is possible! There are giving groups on the North Shore, the Tri-Cities, Squamish, Whistler, Victoria and more! Vancouver also has 100menwhocare and 100 Gay Men for a Cause.
Donations
When you become a member, you donate the full amount for the year ($300) to our page on Charitable Impact. The funds are held by Charitable Impact, and when a charity is selected, Charitable Impact sends the money directly to the charity and handles all of the tax receipts.
Yes! The charity will receive your donation via our Charitable Impact account, and Charitable Impact issues the tax receipt. Your tax receipt is emailed to the address you provided when donating. The email comes from hello@charitableimpact.com with a subject like “Your tax receipt for your gift to…”
Many organizations support their employees’ philanthropic leadership through corporate giving programs. We encourage you to check with your HR department or community investment team to see if your employer offers a matching gift program.
Since 100% of your contribution goes directly to a registered Canadian charity, your donation may be eligible to be matched dollar-for-dollar by your workplace. This is a powerful and simple way to amplify your individual impact, potentially doubling your contribution to our local chosen charities.
We also welcome the opportunity to explore other avenues for leveraged giving, such as contributions made through private foundations or other giving vehicles.

Yes! You are encouraged to nominate causes you care about. The vetting process is handled by the planning committee to ensure that organizations meet the required standards.
Yes! Charities who are not selected are invited to present again after at least one year since their last presentation.
Show up to the meeting, present for five minutes, and head out. Each charity will be informed later in the evening which charity was selected. There is an expectation that the selected charity will attend our next meeting in person for an impact update to share with our members.
